Word Problem-Solving Training

Do your K-5 students struggle with word problems? Do they need help making sense of the language to determine which operation to perform? You are invited to join a research study for elementary teachers that will explore this problem of word problem-solving. Participants in this study will be trained and provided resources to:

• Assess students' skills and understandings.

• Guide students' to learn strategies for attending to vocabulary and using visual models to interpret real-world situations.

At this training, participants will receive a classroom kit of visual structure mats and vocabulary posters appropriate for their chosen grade level. They will also receive assessment instructional resources to implement what they learn from the training. All of these are free to teachers.
