Painting a Portrait of Literacy Success: Aligning ELA Standards, IAR, PLDs, and the Illinois Literacy Plan

Painting a perfect picture of an instructional literacy curriculum is more than what's inside a frame of a program or a product. Realistically, the picture it creates is a mural for the 7 Competencies of Literacy found in the Illinois Comprehensive Literacy Plan (ICLP), leading to the measures of ELA Standards through the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR), followed by the revised qualifiable and quantifiable Performance Level Descriptors (PLD). This workshop will provide updates related to the ISBE documents and support an understanding of assessment data. Time will be allotted to work collaboratively, and explore strategies that may lead to a differentiated district and school literacy curriculum. The outcomes of this workshop will hopefully blend your districts literacy values with teacher and student engagement, motivation and achievement.
