Meeting the Milestones: Language Development in Monolingual and Bilingual Children

Language is a powerful tool that allows children to communicate their ideas and to access the curriculum. What happens in the first years of life that sets children up for success with language, and how can caregivers and educators support that development? This workshop will review the universal milestones of language acquisition, along with milestones specific to English and dual language learners. Recommendations for facilitating the development of speech, vocabulary, grammar, and social communication will be discussed.
