About the event

New school leaders must be ready and able to assume the role of instructional leaders—working on many fronts to improve and sustain student achievement. At the same time, leaders need to manage the academic development of a changing school population and accelerate the development of teachers. These initiatives require school leaders to focus on the management of resources as well as the continuous improvement of school culture.  The Lake County Regional Office of Education Leadership Academy will prepare you for the many leadership challenges of working in Lake County Schools today. You will examine these challenges from the ground up, and clarify your vision of an effective school and your role in leading it. Working closely with seasoned practitioners from Lake County Schools, you will define your core values and understand how they can help you promote educational excellence.

Program Objectives

  • Build a shared mission, and vision of high expectations that ensures all students are on the path to college and career readiness, that holds staff accountable for results.
  • Create and implement systems to ensure a safe, orderly, and productive environment for student and adult learning toward the achievement of school and district improvement priorities.
  • Consider various research-based frameworks for effective teaching and learning that can be refined continuously to improve instruction for all students.
  • Create a collaborative school community where the school staff, families, and community interact regularly and share ownership for the success of the school.
  • Create a positive context for learning by ensuring equity, fulfilling professional responsibilities with honesty and integrity, and serving as a model for the professional behavior of others.
  • Build a culture of high expectations and aspirations for every student by setting clear staff and student expectations for positive learning behaviors and by focusing on students’ social-emotional learning.
