About the event
Join us for a 2-day workshop exploring the fundamentals of instructional coaching. We will work with coaches on the coaching basics that are the foundation of a successful program. We will look at a variety of coaching methods and styles, and help participants find a mix that will support teaching and learning in their school.
We will address topics such as:
- What coaching is and what it isn’t
- Ethics in coaching
- How to create a meaningful, measurable goal
- What is a coaching cycle, and how to create one that is effective and impactful
- How to break through barriers with reluctant teachers
- How to have difficult conversations with teachers and administrators
- Using data to support coaching
- How to create and facilitate meaningful professional development
We will work through a variety of scenarios to help prepare coaches for a variety of situations and give time to network with other coaches for deeper learning and collaboration. This workshop was developed by a committee of coaches from Lake County schools and will be facilitated by current instructional coaches who will share their experiences and expertise with others.
