About the event

The Lake County Coaches Connect Network provides timely and action-oriented professional learning to instructional coaches throughout Illinois.  Meet four times a year for half day sessions to explore topics tailored to your needs as a coach.  Each session provides opportunities to hear from a variety of districts, coaches, and professionals that support coaching programs. Networking is key and in each session coaches will have the time to meet and discuss the sticky points they have with a team of thought partners. Coaches will have access to a variety of resources, activities, protocols, and more each session.

Session Topics

Coaching Process - The great debate: Sweeney vs. Knight. But the better question is how do you ensure a vision for what a coaching cycle looks like? And how do we ensure teachers meet their goals? Here we will learn characteristics of what cycles are, how to manage cycles with individuals and teams, and ways to ensure coaching is impactful. We will even toss in a bit of Aguilar too!

Coaches as Leaders - There is a lot packed into being an instructional leader. Coaches are responsible for leading others, but also leading and taking care of their growth. How do we find the time to do it all? We will explore our coaching why, when to recognize and communication our needs, and ways to build the capacity of others.

Instructional Strategies - How do we ensure that coaches are working with administrators to focus on the essentials of best practices? Through this session we will explore the idea of creating an instructional playbook and a collaborative process to consider that will be supported district wide.

Systems of Support - An essential question to ask is, "Does everyone in the district understand what coaching is and what coaches do?" The best coaches need support. Building a collaborative supportive program is important for impactful coaching. In this session we welcome a partnership of administrators and coaches to do some deep reflecting understanding the current reality of coaches, needs of the program, and ways to layer in next steps to support your community of l and coaches to do some deep reflecting understanding the current reality of coaches, needs of the program, and ways to layer in next steps to support your community of learners.earners.
