About the event

Coaches talked, we listened.  Join us for an expanded Lake County Coaches Network for the 24/25 school year.  Our sessions will continue to provide timely and action-oriented professional learning for instructional coaches throughout Illinois, but our work will also expand to more content-based, behavioral/SEL, and technology coaching. Meet five times a year for a full day of learning, sharing, and networking to explore topics tailored to your needs as a coach.  Each session provides opportunities to hear from a variety of districts, coaches, and professionals that support coaching programs. After a morning of learning, participants will return from lunch for more specific, small-group discussions tailored to the needs of the coaches. Networking is key and this new expanded format will provide coaches with the time to meet and discuss the sticky points they have with a team of thought partners. Coaches will have access to a variety of resources, activities, protocols, and more each session.

Network Topics:

  • Coaching Process - We will build from the ground up, discussing and evaluating a variety of coaching styles and methodologies.  What does a coaching cycle look like, and how to navigate the many components involved?  Coaches will learn techniques for using data to inform and create meaningful, measurable goals with their teachers to make a coaching cycle impactful and rewarding.
  • Coaches as Leaders - Coaches are responsible for leading others but also leading and taking care of their own professional growth. We will explore our “coaching why” and how to be an effective instructional, behavioral, or technology leader. We will review the ethics of coaching, how and when to give feedback to teachers, and how to have difficult conversations with teachers and administrators if need be.
  • Instructional Strategies - Through large and small group discussions, we will explore universal and content-specific strategies to make learning more authentic and beneficial for students.  We will review assessment strategies to build Tier 1 instruction into the classroom to reach all students.
  • Systems of Support - The best coaches need support. Building a collaborative, supportive program is important for impactful coaching. We will create a system of support for coaches through networking opportunities, professional development facilitation, and role play to help coaches realize their own potential, expand their practice, and help them become the change agents in their building.

Note:  Lunch will be on your own from 11:30 am - 12:30 pm
