AA# 4150 Promoting Inclusivity and Equity: Understanding and Combating Antisemitism in Public Schools

For several years now, there has been an alarming rise in antisemitism in the US and across the globe. This has impacted students’ feelings of inclusion and belonging and their feelings of safety within their school communities. This rise in antisemitism can be attributed to many factors including, but not limited to: the polarization of US politics, the October 7th attack on Israel by Hamas, and the proliferation of unchecked hate speech on the internet. Just as public schools have leveraged their duty of educating America’s future citizens during civil unrest with the murder of George Floyd and anti-immigration hostilities at the southern border, it is critical that public school administrators include the needs of Jewish students under their current Diversity, Equity and Inclusivity (DEI) school-wide initiatives.
