About the Event

Session 1 (October 18, 2021):

What is the 5E instructional model?

Participants will experience a grade level 5E instructional sequence.  They will learn about activities in each phase of the 5E model.  They will also learn about the constructivist learning theory, forming cooperative learning groups and using cooperative learning strategies.  They can apply this information to plan a 5E lesson to implement in their classrooms.

Session 2 (January 24, 2022):

How is the 5E instructional model effective to develop quality science lessons aligned to the NGSS?

Differentiate science and engineering, unpack the eight science and engineering practices, choosing anchor and investigative phenomena, unpacking a NGSS standard, and using the 5E model to develop a high quality three dimensional lesson using the science and engineering practices and CCSS.

Session 3 (April 4, 2022):

How can students be assessed formatively and summatively while using the 5E instructional model?
