About the Event

In this half day virtual workshop, the facilitators will walk participants through the importance of using phenomena to not only “hook” students on science, but also provide an entry point to discovering students’ scientific misunderstandings and content knowledge gaps. Common challenges when implementing science instruction in the remote learning environment will be addressed along with strategies to address common issues including access to supplies and maintaining student engagement. All content will be framed around best practices when implementing science instruction. This presentation is co-facilitated by Michele Cozza (Manager of Professional Development, Accelerate Learning) and Lauren Lipsey (Math/Science/PLC Coordinator, Lake County ROE). While STEMscopes examples will be profiled, having access to STEMscopes is not required for participation. Join us for a day filled with collaboration and learning!

Instructors: Michele Cozza, Lauren Lipsey

Content: Science Grades 6-12
