The Regional Office of Education, Lake County IL. is here to help you with your licensure needs. In order to serve you, we have provided links below to help you get started with renewing or obtaining your licensure requirements. In addition, the Regional Office of Education offers fingerprinting and background checks for substitute teachers. The fee for fingerprinting and background checks is $50 and is payable at time of appointment.
Substitute licenses must be issued and registered prior to fingerprinting.

Applying for A license
Applications for licenses, endorsements, and approvals must be completed online through ELIS (Educator Licensure Information System). Click HERE to sign up for an ELIS account or to log into your existing ELIS account.
Please Note: When a transcript is required, it must be an official transcript. To be considered official, a transcript must arrive at the Regional Office of Education in sealed envelope that you have not opened, just as you received it from your college of university. Universities can send transcripts directly to our office via mail or electronic transcript. For more information about transcripts please contact Licensure at
