In order to receive grant funds to redistribute throughout Lake County, the Community Development Division must develop a 5-year Housing and Community Development Consolidated Plan. The Consolidated Plan provides a vision for housing and community development in Lake County. It serves as Lake County’s application to receive CDBG, ESG and HOME funding from the U.S. Department of Urban Development (HUD). It is a plan that describes community needs, resources and priorities; sets goals; and establishes strategies to meet those goals.
Per the Lake County Citizen Participation Plan (PDF), some changes to the Consolidated Plan require formal amendments. The following is an amendment to the 2010 - 2014 Housing and Community Development Consolidated Plan:
Organizations that are completing applications for funds from HUD or other funders may need to complete a Certification of Consistency with the Consolidated Plan. This form must be signed by the Community Development Administrator affirming that the proposed project is consistent with the Consolidated Plan. Organizations must complete an application to receive that form.
Lake County strongly encourages its residents to get involved in the decision-making process for the use of grant funds. This input assists the Housing and Community Development Commission to make appropriate and valuable decisions. The process for providing this input is located in the Lake County Citizen Participation Plan. Copies of the plan are available at the Community Development office.
