Notice of Vacancy on Regional Board of School Trustees

The Lake County Regional Office of Education is accepting letters of interest from candidates to fill a vacant seat on the Regional Board of School Trustees, created by the resignation of Trustee Jim Moran from the Libertyville Township. Illinois School Code (105 ILCS 5/6-19) requires that “any vacancy on the Regional Board of School Trustees shall be filled from the same territory by the remaining members until the next regular election for members of the Regional Board of School Trustees, when the vacancy shall be filled for the unexpired time.”

Candidate qualifications are as follows:

  • Must be a voter of the educational service region (Lake County Regional Office of Education)
  • Must be qualified to vote in the election for members of the Regional Board of School Trustees
  • Cannot be a member of a school board or a school board employee.
  • Cannot hold a county office.
  • Must be a resident of Libertyville Township.

The candidate will remain on the Regional Board of Trustees until the 2019 election.

The Regional Board of School Trustees is an elected body with the responsibility of action on detachment/annexation petitions regarding boundary changes between school districts in the region.  Please refer to 105 ILCS 5/7 for more information on boundary changes. The Regional Board of School Trustees meets quarterly in July, October, January, and April.  Special meetings can be held when necessary.
